Molly and Karen were introduced to each other by their husbands. Christopher, Molly’s husband, and Mike, Karen's husband, are related through extended family. Molly and Karen discovered they both share a passion for accounting and a desire to serve their community. Karen proposed the idea of coming together and starting a partnership where they could thrive and do what they both love. This idea soared into a stimulating 3-hour meeting marking the beginning of LaMountain, Riccardelli & Petkovich Accounting.

In December 2022, Molly and Karen purchased a building in Peru, NY. By January of 2023, they began structuring this location to become a growing office. Karen had previously established an accounting firm in 1998, located in Canaan, CT. In January of 2024, the two locations merged. Along with the merger of both places, our Connecticut operations manager and head bookkeeper, Amy Petkovich, joined the partnership. LaMountain, Riccardelli & Petkovich Accounting was officially established and ready to continue serving the communities in the Adirondacks of upstate New York and the tri-state area of Canaan, Connecticut.

With the two growing locations, they composed a plan for additional office space. This space enabled the expansion of the bookkeeping department and the tax preparation department in both locations. They hired additional clerical staff and staff specializing in both tax and bookkeeping. Through the use of cloud-based technology, they can serve both practices while also maintaining a physical presence for each office.

Molly, Karen, and Amy recognized the mentorship they were fortunate enough to have received when completing their higher education. With a desire to give back to their communities, it is important to them to offer internships to students attending local colleges. In January of 2025, they accepted their first group of college applicants. Their goal with the interns is to provide guidance, knowledge, and experience to help further their growth in reaching their career goals.
